Financial Accountant

DMS Governance
Unit 10 & 11, Cashel, E25 WK15, Tipperary

Summary: Reporting to the Financial Controller - Europe, the successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of accurate and timely information, maintenance of balance sheet and profit and loss account as well as overall compliance with internal company procedures and controls.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparation and review of monthly management accounts (in accordance with IFRS) and statutory financial information for newly acquired entities.
  • Manage the transition of these entities from outsourced providers to in-house.
  • Manage the transmission of historical financial data onto the Sage Intacct accounting system.
  • Assist in managing the implementation of the move from local GAAP to IFRS.
  • Demonstrate an ability to manage and plan an integration with a view to managing future projects to bring accounts preparation in-house.
  • Maintenance of detailed supporting reconciliations as part of the month end close process (including the fixed asset register).
  • Analysis and commentary of monthly variances versus budget
  • Liaise with the business manager to assist with managing the invoicing process for both business which occurs annually.
  • Work with the A/P and A/R teams to ensure timely collection of debtors and payment of creditors in accordance with credit terms.
  • Liaise with the compliance department to ensure timely delivery of financial inputs to regulatory returns.
  • Key contact with respect to the annual, ensuring annual financial statements are prepared in accordance with Local GAAP for statutory entities.
  • Understanding of key differences between treatment under Local GAAP and IFRS (our Group reporting standard)
  • Responsibility for group VAT returns and have experience with VAT recovery rates and calculation.
  • Maintaining the banking in local jurisdictions.
  • Assistance in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts (variance analysis to be included in Management Accounts reporting).
  • Assisting other members of the DMS Finance Team in preparation for month end accounting.
  • Continuously focusing on improvement and development of the accounting processes to reduce reporting lead times and enhance internal controls.
  • Working with colleagues across the DMS Group, ensuring effective collaboration, communication and development of solutions.
  • Assisting with the transition of the client work currently being performed by the Finance Team to the Operations Team.
  • Building and maintaining excellent relationships with all key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assisting the local business manager on commercial/ client facing matters as they are required.
  • Assistance with ad-hoc and project requirements as required by the Financial Controller - Europe.

REQUIREMENTS

  • The successful candidate will have experience with accounting software (Sage Intacct would be a plus) as well as superior proficiency in using Microsoft Excel.
  • Have strong technical accounting skills including Tax, VAT and Financial Reporting
  • Organizational ability and adaptability are key in the fast-paced DMS environment
  • Team player and self-starting, with ability to use initiative, work at times unsupervised and produce high quality output

EDUCATION:

  • Fully qualified accountant (CA/ CPA/ ACA/ ACCA)

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience of having responsibility for accounts preparation as part of a monthly reporting cycle
  • Experience in the Financial Services Industry would be beneficial
  • Prior experience of working on integration projects in a Finance Team
