On behalf of our Pharmaceutical Client based in Co. Tipperary, we are currently sourcing an experienced EHS Lead to join their Team. Job Duties and Responsibilities : • Responsible for Development, monitoring and implementation of Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) & energy policies; to ensure the organization is compliant with health and safety legislation and corporate standards; and to reduce or prevent hazards, dangers and accidents. • Responsible for preparation and maintenance of SOP’s related to EHS & Energy Management Systems.  Reporting of site EHS metrics & delivering on key targets. • Develop, implement and maintain an effective EHS program and ensure compliance with the requirements of Irish/EU legislation and corporate standards. • Develop systems to ensure all employees/contractors comply with all relevant legal safety requirements. • Identify training needs, organise and co-ordinate training courses and prepare training material where appropriate. • Identify unsafe acts, conditions, and hazards, investigate root causes and identify corrective and preventative actions and report to management. • Liaise with on-site contractors to ensure their compliance with company safety regulations and adherence to safety standards. • Conduct surveys and audits as required to identify and minimise the risk to company and employees. • Assist with the preparation of emergency/contingency plans, review and update emergency procedures and carry out training with key staff. • Carry out risk assessments in conjunction with colleagues and identify control measures. • Lead in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks. • Ensure the safe installation of equipment. • Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. process safety, fire regulations, industrial hygiene, noise etc. Qualifications required: • Primary Degree in Engineering, Science or equivalent, in conjunction with a recognized Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety. • Experience working in a highly regulated environment such as Pharma or medical device. • Experience and proven capabilities in developing and implementing world class health and safety management systems to ISO45001, 14001 and 50001 standards in a manufacturing environment. • Experience in developing and implementing behavioural safety programmes. • Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong influencing and negotiation skills. A demonstrated ability to communicate and influence at management and operator levels within a manufacturing organization.
