Our client has an excellent opportunity for a Fabrication Manager to join there team. The Fabrication Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, and control of production within the Machine Shop and Fabrication Department. Ensuring product is produced efficiently and cost-effectively to the required level of quality on time, in a safe and compliant manner. This is a hands-on role, spending the majority of time on the floor. Fabrication Manager will report directly to the Operations Manager and work alongside the Finishing Manager to deliver company goals and objectives. Requirements – Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities. 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing operations (metal fabrication would be an advantage. 2+ years’ experience in a supervisory capacity. Strong Planning and Organisation skills to be able to control and monitor the production process and meet KPI’s. Capability to cultivate and implement performance measures to ensure production standards are met. A swift learner with excellent problem-solving skills to effectively handle the challenges and problems in the production department. A strong and up to date knowledge of the latest policies and procedures required to manage a safe and compliant manufacturing facility. Demonstrated decision-making capability. Strong communication skills throughout the production department. Showcase good leadership and motivation skills to lead different people with different abilities and character traits. Ability to work under pressure and motivate others to meet tight deadlines. Coach and mentor employees on a one-on-one basis as well as a group. Ability to develop a culture of teamwork within the business. Proven track record of successfully training employees in productivity and safety. Be able to deal with conflict and ensure a positive outcome. Knowledge and experience of lean manufacturing would be an advantage. High level of computer literacy with a good working knowledge of a variety of computer packages including, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook (previous experience of an ERP system would be an advantage. Tasks/Duties & Responsibilities. Planning and organising of Production Schedules for Metal Shop and Weld Cells with the Production Planner. Assess and identify Resource Requirements to support the delivery of Production Schedules. Liaise with key stakeholders (Engineering/Supply Chain/Team Leads) on Production Schedules, Lead-times and Delivery Dates. Co-ordinate with Finishing Manager to ensure the product is delivered as per delivery schedule. Develop and Agree on Production Targets for product lines. Oversee day to day production activities in Metal Shop and Weld Cells to ensure agreed Output Targets are achieved. Create Recovery Plans where Output Targets have been missed. Ensure good communication flow to the Production Teams so that they are all fully aware of the business and customer requirements. Support Daily PIT (Performance-Issues-Targets) meetings are held daily with Team Leads and Team members to ensure production targets are being achieved. Determining Quality Standards, monitor product standards and implement the quality-control program. Identify opportunities and devise strategies to reduce Production Costs, increase Production Efficiencies and eliminate Waste, ensuring production is cost-effective. Lean Champion for Metal Shop and Weld Cells. Health & Safety Lead for Metal Shop and Weld Cells, ensuring that H&S guidelines and regulations are met. Enforce safety rules on their team members to avoid injuries in cases of accidents and production hazards. Ensure that all team members wear PPE during production and monitor to ensure adherence to instructions. Liaise with Maintenance on development and execution of Preventative Maintenance plan for Metal Shop and Weld Cells. Devise, co-ordinate and execute Cross-Training Strategies with Team Leads for respective teams. Complete and Deliver Performance Reviews on direct reports. Work with management to implement the company's policies and goals. Monitor and enforce company policy regarding attendance and timekeeping.
