Our client, a food manufacturing company based in Tipperary are looking for a Materials Manager to going their team. The Role. Responsibilities of the role will include: Responsible for delivering the full integration of our factory Season traceability system into our dry goods, ingredient and packaging warehouse to ensure full utilisation of the software.  Establish a bill of materials (on Season) for all finished goods to encompass packaging and ingredients. This system needs to be continuously managed and updated.    Full responsibility for the procurement and management of all packaging and ingredients for the business. This includes ordering, scheduling of deliveries and usage monitoring to ensure packaging levels are held at agreed levels. Identify and source suppliers for all of company needs – these include packaging and ingredients etc. Determine packaging wastage per production line, per SKU and reduce to an agreed level. Establish and agree with Senior Management packaging and ingredient KPI’s and present these on a weekly/monthly basis.  Full responsibility for the month end packaging stock to include presentation in an agreed format to the Financial Controller. Manage the HR function for the packaging and stores department to create an ethos where both departments are run in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Ultimately responsible for the management of all packaging & stores staff to include recruitment, selection, induction, training, development, performance monitoring, counselling and discipline. Full responsible for the co-ordination and implementation of our annual tender on packaging and ingredients. Find new packaging suppliers for as many dry good and ingredient lines as possible. Test their goods to ensure they meet company standards. Candidate will be expected to source, test and price at least two new suppliers per main packaging lines. Key role in packaging NPD and as a result you must have a full appreciation for the market in which we operate. Key attributes of the candidate: A confident person who must be able to collaborate with managers at all levels to determine supply needs. A structured individual with excellent organisational and record keeping skills, capable of handling multiple projects, shifting priorities and handling deadline pressures. Problem solving skills with sound commercial awareness and good attention to detail with the ability to address immediate problems, create instant, relevant decisions to ensure continuous customer satisfaction. Very strong IT and numerical skills, must be proficient in the use of excel and have a working knowledge of an inventory management system. Teamworking skills, must be willing to work as part of a team and get involved in lean projects that are not necessarily part of the daily routine. Strong presentation skills coupled with excellent oral communication and listening skills. Degree qualification ideal but not essential. Experience gained in a food production environment would be ideal but not essential.
