A leading global Medical Device manufacturer requires a senior professional to take on an Engineering Manager remit. Reporting to the Director of Operations you`ll need the seniority and gravitas to fulfil these duties in a lean focused and dynamic manufacturing facility. Ideally you will need to have managed a Business Unit or small facility for at least the last 5 years and experience in Medical Devices is preferable (other regulated industries like Pharma may also be considered. You`ll have 8-10 direct reports and be responsible for both the day-to-day management of the Engineering function as well as it`s longer term strategic direction. This is a senior appointment and a permanent role and a salary and package commensurate with the level is on offer for the right candidate. Primary function. Manages activities and allocates resources within the manufacturing engineering area, to ensure complete engineering support is provided to meet department and company goals. Coordinates manufacturing engineering department activities to ensure that equipment and processes required for each new product are developed, qualified, validated and designed formanufacturability. Identifies areas and means to improve manufacturing processes and equipment and product quality on existing product and processes. Main responsibilities. Recruits, coaches and develops organisational talent. Fosters a diverse workplace. Creates an entrepreneurial environment. Keeps the organisations vision and values at the forefront of decision making and action. Demonstrates effective change leadership. Builds strategic partnerships to further departmental and organisational objectives. Develops and executes organisational and operational policies. Monitors compliance with company policies and procedures. Develops, monitors and appropriately adjusts the annual budget for department(s. Participates in validation activity, including reviewing and signing protocols and reports. Education & Job Skills. Degreequalification in a relevant discipline. 5+ years of related work experience in a leadership role. Provides direction and monitors progress; monitors costs of projects and resources within a department or unit; monitors company-wide indicators such as market share and profitability; monitors external environment in areas of technical or professional responsibility. Develops and/or identifies new work processes and the improved utilisation of resources; facilitates participation in the continuous improvement program; investigates and solves problems that impact work processes and personnel; develops and communicates a vision for the organisational unit assigned. Develops, communicates, and builds consensus for operating goals that are in alignment with the division. Provides leadership to assigned staff and supervisors by communicating and providing guidance towards achieving department objectives. Creates immediate to long-range plans to carry out objectives established by top management; develops and calculates a budget for a department or group to meet organisational goals; forecasts future departmental needs including human and material resources and capital expenditures; recommends or modifies the structure of organisational units or a centralised functional activity subject to senior management approval.
